Comprehensive Eye Examinations for All Ages
Routine eye examinations are an important part of ocular health, regardless of your age.
You should schedule your infant’s first eye exam between the ages of 6-12 months. We’ll check to see if the eyes are developing normally while determining potential risk of eye disease. We can also diagnose and treat minor eye conditions, such as amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (crossed eye).
Your toddler’s vision acuity, eye health and development should be assessed to test for their ability to track movement and focus on objects. We’ll also check their binocular vision. Similar to infant eye exams, we’ll check for amblyopia and strabismus as these conditions can develop over time. Treatment for these disorders are most effective when diagnosed and treated early.
Kindergartners at age five should be examined to assess their readiness for school activities such as reading at a close range and from a distance.
Examinations for this age group begin with our thorough eye health exam and assessment for a wide variety of eye disorders. It is common for this age group to also request contact lens exams and fittings as well as consultations for LASIK eye surgery.
Senior citizens require special attention to maintain eye health. We strive to diagnose glaucoma and cataracts as early as possible. If detected, we’ll create an individualized treatment plan to help you achieve the highest level of vision acuity.
